About the Work

Meander Sway: Watershed Feast is a large-scale landscape installation that gathers and reassembles driftwood and drift bamboo into an open, circular space. This venue holds the fluid traces of material movement while echoing the dynamic landscape of the Zeng-wen River’s meandering loops. Entering the installation, visitors experience the sensory memories accumulated within the basin, reconnecting with nature through physical presence and pause. Combined with foraging walks in the low-elevation mountains, the work further explores potential paths toward forging a basin community.

About the Artist

Born in a rural village in Chiayi, Huang Wen-yuan explores local customs across cultures through keen observation and extensive reading, constantly contemplating how to present his work using a diverse range of materials. His artistic stage lies in the countryside, at the grassroots, and within communities. Collaborating with civic groups and local organizations, he uses a sensitive, empathetic mind to translate and interpret the vibrant fabric of everyday culture through art. The field is his most natural canvas.
