Meander Sway: Watershed Feast
HUANG Wen-yuan
黃文淵
Meander Sway: Watershed Feast is a large-scale landscape installation that gathers and reassembles driftwood and drift bamboo into an open, circular space. This venue holds the fluid traces of material movement while echoing the dynamic landscape of the Zeng-wen River’s meandering loops. Entering the installation, visitors experience the sensory memories accumulated within the basin, reconnecting with nature through physical presence and pause. Combined with foraging walks in the low-elevation mountains, the work further explores potential paths toward forging a basin community.
About the Artist
Born in a rural village in Chiayi, Huang Wen-yuan explores local customs across cultures through keen observation and extensive reading, constantly contemplating how to present his work using a diverse range of materials. His artistic stage lies in the countryside, at the grassroots, and within communities. Collaborating with civic groups and local organizations, he uses a sensitive, empathetic mind to translate and interpret the vibrant fabric of everyday culture through art. The field is his most natural canvas.

Time Travel Capsule – River Camouflag
LI Cheng-liang
李承亮
A spiritual vessel designed to travel through time, offering two distinct ways of seeing—from within and from without. Its exterior suggests a machine capable of diving into the deep sea, flying through space, and crossing into other worlds, carrying the unknown and the imagination. Viewers may enter through the front hatch into a dim interior to encounter shifting light, or glimpse inside through round panes of colored glass. Within, a bridge-like space extends the gaze through the body of the vessel, leading toward a realm that is both private and expansive—an inner landscape of imagination.
About the Artist
As an independent artist working within a solo studio setup, Li Chengliang creates large-scale works, furniture, and spatial installations using materials such as steel, wood, and stone. His practice embraces collaboration between craftsmanship and art, merging handcraft, painting, and narrative within conceptual frameworks. His work often explores the inherent properties and malleability of materials, seeking the most fitting forms of expression. Through this process, the shapes of objects are designed to resonate with the surrounding space, creating a dialogue between the work and its environment. Li’s creations reflect a deep engagement with the cultural contexts of various places, focusing on the conditions of daily life and attempting to offer interpretations and reflections on contemporary existence.

The Court of Nature: The Zeng-wen River Case — All Things Bear Witness
Young Foliage Social innovation Co., Ltd. x Noel YANG
稚葉社創×楊欽榮
The Court of Nature: Witnessed by All Beings continues the inquiry into the rights of nature initiated by The Parliament of All Beings. Rather than remaining passive observers, visitors are invited to become gravel, rivers, and other living beings within the watershed. Through bodily movement, sound perception, and spatial interaction, they experience the ever-changing dynamics of the natural environment firsthand. By weaving together hydrological engineering, Indigenous knowledge, and soundscape design, the exhibition transforms scientific data, local languages, and sensory experience into a courtroom without predetermined verdicts, encouraging visitors to reconsider the relationship between humans, rivers, and the more-than-human world.

喵b三皮乾雜工行(黃信堯×白昆禾)
At the tail end of the Alishan Range lies the barren, low-elevation badlands known as the "Moon World." Recent environmental shifts have clothed the northern slopes in dense vegetation, while the sun-baked southern slopes remain hardened and inhospitable to plant life. This duality mirrors the title VVV (referencing Shan (墡) and E (堊), or chalk and clay, two ancient Chinese characters denoting white soil), evoking contrasts between black and white, color and monochrome. Through visual collage and spatial audio, the artists reflect on the reciprocal contract between species and the land, laying bare the homogenous alienation within the Moon World.
About the Artist
Huang, Hsin-yao: Known for his humorous, satirical voice that exposes the absurdity and melancholy of ordinary life. His creative path evolved from early social issue portraiture toward probing the narrative boundaries of documentary and narrative feature films. In recent years, he has focused on non-narrative visual experiments, using essayistic collages to reveal depersonalized land stories and life textures. Threshold
Angler never knows a bird (Tomoo Nagai XYuriko Shimamura)
釣り人は鳥を知らない(永井朋生×嶋村有里子)
The water level is the trace continuously inscribed upon this land by the wind, tides, time, and the lives of all beings. The Zeng-wen River, flowing through Tainan, has nurtured fertile soil and sustained human life. At the same time, its currents have transformed the landscape, at times engulfing settlements and constantly rewriting the contours of the land. Through field research into this place, we contemplate the boundaries shaped by the mutual influences between humans and nature. "Threshold" is an exploration that traces the landscapes co-created by humans and nature.
About the Artist
Tomoo Nagai and Yuriko Shimamura are a collaborative unit working across sound and painting. Based on site-specific research, they create performances and installations using sound, pigments, and locally collected materials. The unit’s name is inspired by a fisherman gazing out at the sea and a bird circling the sky, symbolizing the intersection of different perceptions and their exploration of space through the relationships between place, memory, and environment.

Scent Memories of the Blind Snake
Frank Bloem
法蘭克・布洛姆
Frank Bloem (b. 1978) was born in the Dutch city of Haarlem. He studied Visual Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. After graduating from the Rietveld Academy in 2007, he worked for seven years as a visual artist, creating art installations with mixed media. In 2014, he discovered scent as a medium for his art and decided to focus his practice on working with it. This led, in 2016, to the establishment of The Snifferoo, a laboratory for scent in the broadest sense. In addition to perfumes, Bloem develops fragrances for Artis Zoo (including elephant fragrances), collaborates with artists, and creates scent projects for museums. He has an ongoing collaboration with the Embassy of the North Sea on various projects. One of these was a collection of 40 scents from and around the North Sea. Other projects with the Embassy of the North Sea include the installation Bulk in Ruigoord and the installation Decomposition at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen's Depot. In 2021, he designed the perfume Zeelucht for the Embassy. Bloem works on his own scent installations and collaborates with artists who want to incorporate scent into their work. He gives scent workshops at the art institution Mediamatic, where he manages the Aroma Lab. In November 2022, his book GEUR, de vergeten zintuig (Scent, the Forgotten Sensation) was published by Ten Have, taking readers on a journey of discovery into the world of fragrance. Written in a light-hearted style, it offers insight into how smell shapes our daily lives and has marked pivotal moments in world history. In 2026, his book Voelen, Ruiken, Proeven (Feel, Smell, Taste) was released. Frank has taught at various art academies and is also involved with Odeuropa and Neuswijzer, both projects of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
About the Artist
The Zengwen River, locally known as the "blind snake," flows 138 kilometers from the slopes of Dongshui Mountain to the Taiwan Strait. Along its journey, the river passes through areas inhabited by Indigenous peoples, Han Chinese, and—in the past—the Japanese and the Dutch. As it travels, the "blind snake" winds its way through a landscape of diverse scents and customs; being blind, it relies entirely on its sense of smell. Scent is the sense most inextricably linked to memory: as infants, we learn to recognize the world through smell, and later in life, it is often scent that triggers the recollection of memories long thought forgotten. In this work, we follow the olfactory memory of the snake itself. The river becomes the smelling entity, and the arrangement of scents throughout the exhibition traces what the snake has smelled from source to mouth—and across the passage of time. One can detect the scent of the "red-haired barbarians" (the Dutch), the island's first colonizers when it was still known as Formosa, alongside traces left by later occupations. In the spring of 2026, scent artist Frank Bloem traced the river's course and collected an array of scents along the way. He developed and recreated them in his studio at the Tsung-Yeh Arts and Cultural Center—at times letting his imagination run wild, and at other times using the actual materials themselves to compose this installation. The work presents the river's own olfactory memory through a series of bottles mounted on stands, accompanied by handwritten texts created by the artist himself.

Harvesting the Flowing Memories of Zeng-wen River
CHEN Ke-ting
陳科廷
The Zeng-wen River meanders gracefully, nurturing vast ecosystems and human settlements where all beings co-exist. Interwoven throughout the basin are diverse scents, each carrying distinct stories and memories. Through environmental gathering and botanical extraction, these scents are distilled and preserved as tinctures and hydrosols, reshaping residents' memories and imaginations of their surroundings into a collective breath of life.
About the Artist
Holding a Master’s degree in Plant Pathology from National Chung Hsing University, Chen Ke-ting worked on agricultural and horticultural projects in diplomatic partner nations and researched Austronesian traditional ecological knowledge. Currently the director of the Collectors CoSpace, he uses “collecting” to reconnect people, plants, and the land based on ecological observations. By bridging generations to preserve local stories, he develops cross-disciplinary art, food, and local studies courses, rebuilding intimate human-nature interactions to practice sustainable co-existence.

The Vanishing Flying Squirrels
Rngrang Hungul x Flying Squirrel Girls (TSAI Ya-chu x WU Yu-han x SU Yu-hsuan x Yang Yi)
余欣蘭×飛鼠少女隊(蔡蕥竹×吳語涵×蘇育宣×楊毅)
Based in Cayamavana Village along the Zeng-wen River Basin, this project traces the spiritual eyes that "mass-migrated" due to commercial forestry practices. Observing an orderly yet lifeless man-made landscape at an altitude of 900 meters, the creators question how the sacred ecological contract with nature fractured when tourism value dismantled the squirrels' gliding pathways. The vanishing of flying squirrels stems not only from light pollution and habitat colonization, but also from the erosion of internal tribal taboos and traditional rules. When the ancient pact between hunter and land fails, the luminous forest falls silent. Guided by hunter Basuya, the team uses a mixed-media video installation to carve a path of "imaginative return" through the haze of modern civilization. Translating physical nocturnal fieldwork into an immersive performance, the work serves as both an elegy for the missing squirrels and an artistic pilgrimage, rekindling flames in the quiet night to rediscover the gliding trail deep into the ancestral forest.
About the Artist
Rngrang Hungul: A Truku visual artist whose practice is grounded in deep field research. A graduate of National Dong Hwa University's Department of Indigenous Languages and Communication, she acts as both visual recorder and local cultural interpreter. Through her lens, she engages in a profound cultural dialectic within the crevices between contemporary social structures and traditional tribal norms. Her work fuses the weight of documentary depth with the tension of experimental art, and in recent years, she has increasingly translated the physical sensations of her fieldwork into video installations and written texts—stitching together Truku women's life histories while building a sensory visual narrative for contemporary Indigenous women. Flying Squirrel Girls: A group of young creators and researchers from the Graduate Institute of Interdisciplinary Art at National Kaohsiung Normal University. Alongside their personal research, they share a passion for ecological reading and Indigenous experiences. Learning that hunters across Taiwan had noticed a dramatic decline in flying squirrel populations, they followed in hunter Basuya Yakumangana's footsteps into the middle and upper reaches of the Zeng-wen River, tracking the squirrels through faint sounds, tree canopies, and claw marks. They are currently conducting a long-term re-encounter project in the forest near Cayamavana Village.

Nature Disappearing
TSAI Han-cheng
蔡漢正
This work uses photography to document check dams along Guidan Creek, exposing the images directly onto man-made concrete slabs. When dry, the image appears blurred and faint; once wetted with water, the picture comes into sharp clarity. This interplay between clarity and blur subtly questions whether nature loses its innate vitality when artificial concrete intervenes in a river. Nature Disappearing uses the drying, fading image as a metaphor for the "disappearance of nature." As the image reappears with water, it asks: what has the check dam erased, and what remains forever untouched?
About the Artist
Working primarily in photography, Tsai's recent work focuses on human-environment relationships, largely presented through landscape forms. He continuously asks: how can an image serve as a medium of communication? His work emphasizes that photography is not a one-way gaze, but an expression of relational existence between people and things, exploring contemporary sociality through these connections. Beyond his artistic practice, he researches the history and theory of Taiwanese landscape photography.
